Online Education Program

We recognize that our community reaches across the United States and the globe and it is not always easy to access yoga classes, retreats or conferences. For this reason, we are answering the call to have a more web-based presence through our educational vlog (video blog) and online webinars, all presented in American Sign Language (ASL).

We are currently working with a Deaf-owned multi-media company to revamp our entire website and how we communicate with you. This new website will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the history, benefits, ancient philosophy and much more from the convenience of your personal computer.

We take our role as an educator and advocate very seriously. Please keep checking in with us as we evolve and continue to update teachings to our website and the internet. We love feedback!  :)

Community Outreach & Network (Resource Center)

Through our commitment to share classical Yoga and its philosophy in American Sign Language, we offer various ways for the Deaf culture and its members to explore this healing, calming and balancing practice:

  1. 1) Calendar Listing of yoga events offered in sign language. Post your event.

  2. 2) Global Listing of Deaf & Sign-Fluent Yoga Teachers.

  3. 3) Volunteer Service Network for interpreters to provide volunteer interpreting services for yoga studios that may not have a sign-fluent teacher. Need an interpreter for a yoga class or event?  Submit your request here.

DYF strongly believes in sharing yoga events offered by any Deaf or sign language-fluent yoga teacher, expanding the amount of offerings presented in sign language. We do this as a service to Deaf and Hard of Hearing yogis around the globe.  Learn more.

We are currently fundraising for this project to hire a multi-media website designer to create a visually-based education resource center. Donate now to help us reach our goal $5,500.

The DeafYoga Foundation is continuously seeking ways to deepen our service and commitment to share traditional yoga in American Sign Language (ASL) and empower the Deaf community and its members, in their quest to gain equal access to yoga. If you have ideas or suggestions you’d like to share please let us know...we’re always happy to hear from you. Also, check out some of our community members and see what they have to say about their yoga experiences.  We look forward to practicing and sharing with you soon.

We are continuously seeking service opportunities to educate people about the value of a yoga teacher and yoga studio that knows how to best accommodate Deaf yoga students. Click here to see some of our Deaf yogis yoga experiences.

Events sponsored by DeafYoga Foundation are tailored for Deaf audiences, yoga studios, corporate businesses, sign language interpreters, ASL students and any other individual inspired by our service.  Contact us so we can serve you.

Training Courses & Curriculums
c

DeafYoga Foundation’s first priority related to training is to create  opportunities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing yogins to become certified yoga teachers. In additional, we watched our role evolve into a resource center for sign language interpreters, ASL-fluent yoga teachers, non-signing hearing yoga teachers and yoga studio owners.

Our advocacy role for creating equal access in the Yoga community provides several opportunities for educational trainings for all interested in opening the doors to our beloved community members. We do this through training programs specifically designed for:

1) Deaf & Hard of Hearing yogins to become certified Yoga teachers

2) Interpreters on techniques, proper sign choices and vocabulary

3) ASL-fluent yoga teachers on teaching techniques and yoga signs

4) Hearing non-signing yoga teachers to learn simple tips for teaching our community members. Watch this movie to see it in action!
